Three SAB-profiel projects nominated for the Dutch national steel prize 2026

We are proud to announce that no fewer than three projects featuring SAB-profiel products have been nominated for the National Steel Prize 2026. These nominations highlight the versatility of steel across a wide range of applications from the offshore industry and large-scale logistics developments to innovative solutions that contribute to a more sustainable living environment.

The nominated projects

  • DSV Moerdijk: the largest distrubution center in the Benelux. This logistics megaproject stands out for its smart, steel-efficient structural solutions, demonstrating how sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand. For this project, SAB supplied all sandwich panels and profiled steel sheets for both the facade and the roof. This project was realized by Vrolijk and Cladding Partners.

  • P11- Sif Maasvlakte: A major expansion of monopile production facilities. P11 involves the large-scale expansion of Sif’s production facilities for monopiles at Maasvlakte 2. With a total steel structure weighing nearly 8,000 tonnes, this facility will become the world’s largest monopile factory for offshore wind turbine foundations. For this project, SAB supplied more than 91,000 m² of roofing and facade systems. The project was executed by Kempen Cladding.

  • Tata Steel Windbreaker: an innovative solution for reducing environmental impact. The Tata Steel Windbreaker is an impressive wind barrier measuring 18 meters high and 900 meters long, surrounding the coal storage yard at Tata Steel in IJmuiden. This innovative steel structure significantly reduces dust dispersion, making an important contribution to minimizing environmental nuisance. SAB-profiel manufactured and supplied 4,800 profiles for this landmark project. The steel profiles are perforated with holes of approximately three centimeters in diameter. The panels are five meters long and finished with an SDP50 coating in five different shades of grey.

We are extremely proud of these nominations and would like to congratulate all clients, designers, construction partners, and project teams involved on this well-deserved recognition.

We look forward with great interest to the National Steel Prize 2026 award ceremony and wish all nominees the very best of luck.
