The questions and the answers
What is the normal delivery time for SAB products?
Before we can give a delivery time, we require some details: profile, material (Colorcoat PE 25 / Polyester, Colorcoat PVDF, Colorcoat Prisma, Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra, Foodsafe, stainless steel or a combination of materials), colour and thickness of the materials. Using these details, we check if we have the material in stock. We then check the delivery times list with the first possible delivery time of the profile/s concerned. This list is created based on: the available production capacity, the number of orders and the rolling machine schedule. For an exact delivery date please contact us at planning.sab@sabprofiel.nl.
When should I use a coating and what is the most suitable one for my situation??
This depends on the type of material and the application. When uncoated, galvanised steel is unsuitable for exterior applications and in principle must always be coated. The same applies for interior coating. As the name of the coating suggests, this is only suitable for interior use. Aluzink and stainless steel can be used uncoated without restriction for exterior applications. As every situation differs, it is difficult to give an immediate answer to which coating is suitable for which situation. You can find the differences between the coatings that we deliver at Materials and Coatings. Furthermore, you can always contact us.
What is important when transporting and storing perforated material?
With perforated material it is even more important that our products are transported and stored dry. If water remains in the perforation due to rain or condensation, corrosion will occur. Especially with thicker material, the zinc layer is not sufficient for sufficient cathodic protection. The corrosion is often superficial, easy to clean and the process will stop after installation.
What colours are available?
We have a colour sheet that shows all of the standard colours we supply. In fact, we can supply any RAL colour, if the size of the order is sufficiently large.
What is the minimum roof pitch for a cold roof or sandwich roof?
We recommend a roof pitch of 10 degrees. Metal roofing is unsuitable for roofs with a pitch of 0-4 degrees. For roofs with a pitch of between 4 and 9 degrees you must make additional provisions. You can find these in the table at Transport, storage and installation/ roof installation.
Do you have solutions to prevent condensation on cold roof cladding?
Yes, a film can be applied to the interior of the cladding. This film can temporarily absorb between 700 and 900 gr/m2 of moisture when the humidity is high. The moisture will evaporate again when circumstances allow. This layer can be supplied in light grey or white.
Do you have you detailed drawings of joints and suchlike?
Our stock of detailed drawings is limited to a number of principle solutions, these can be found in our technical manual. Other than that, you are free to use your own detailed drawings. Of course, we will be pleased to evaluate these designs.
Are SAB-profiel products guaranteed?
Yes, the guarantee we give is dependent on the type of product (galvanised, Aluzink, stainless steel, perforated, coated/ uncoated) and its application (whether or not in a corrosive atmosphere).
What lengths are produced?
SAB-profiel always produces its products to customer specification. There are however minimum and (recommended) maximum lengths; you can find these lengths on the pages for the profiles concerned.
To what degree can profiled cladding be curved during construction?
The height difference between the supports must be a maximum of L/350 (where L is the distance between centres of the supports concerned). For greater height differences, the cladding must be crimped in the factory.
What is the maximum size of an opening in a roofing sheet?
Roof openings that interrupt a maximum of one web, normally require no support construction. Openings up to 300 mm (round or square) should be strengthened with an extra sheet of 600x600x1.5 mm. For openings larger than 300 mm a trimming construction must be used.
Do you also make static calculations?
Yes, we have a technical department that can also make calculations for you. However, we do not make calculations for tilting stability, diaphragm roofs, steel sheet concrete floors or fasteners.
What is the sound insulation value of a sandwich panel?
Our PIR-foam panels achieve a sound insulation value of 26dB.
Are there digital AutoCAD drawings of SAB products available?
Yes, you can find them under downloads/acad-drawings as DWG and DXF files.
What is the fire resistance of PIR-foam panels?
Most PIR-foam panels are not fire resistant, but we have some panels with EW30 or EI classification.
How do SAB PIR-foam panels react to fire?
The combustibility of PIR-foam panels can be classified as flame retardant and self-extinguishing in accordance with DIN 4102 Part 1, class B1. The panels are classified as B-s2, do according pre tests of NEN-EN13501-1.
