The CO2 Emissions from January to June 2024
Each year, we set goals to make a positive impact on the environment. One important goal is to reduce CO2 emissions. Compared to our reference year of 2019, we aim to achieve a 92% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2024. Unfortunately, we did not meet our 2024 target in the first half of the year. From January to June 2024, we reached 13% CO2 emissions. Fortunately, we still have a few months to reduce this figure toward our target of 8%.
Our facility in IJsselstein was renovated this spring. The hall was fully insulated, and the pipes in the heating system were insulated to save gas. Even though all our electricity is already sourced from green energy, we are constantly taking measures to further reduce electricity consumption. The last 40 light fixtures with conventional fluorescent lighting in IJsselstein will be replaced during the Christmas period.
For Geldermalsen, two electric forklifts have been ordered to replace the LPG forklifts. These are expected to be delivered by January 2025 at the latest. This will bring the CO2 emissions from the LPG forklifts down to zero.
Additionally, more and more company cars are exclusively running on electricity, as the policy states that no other types of cars can be ordered.
We hope that this will already lead to lower CO2 emissions in the second half of 2024.
