We were extremely proud to be awarded a CO2 Performance Ladder certification this week. It recognizes SAB-profiel’s contribution to the achievement of the European climate goals. The CO2 Performance Ladder is a tool that is used to measure how much CO2 companies emit. Here at SAB-profiel, we are doing our best to reduce our CO2 emissions and our ambition is to be CO2 neutral.
To convert our ambitions into demonstrable and measurable action, we have used the CO2 Performance Ladder to help us develop a CO2 management system. This has given us an insight into the CO2 emissions of our own systems, as well as CO2 emissions from indirect sources such as the power plants in which our energy is generated. We have used this insight to develop measurable goals for the gradual reduction of CO2 emissions. For example, the goal for the new panel factory in Geldermalsen is to be CO2 neutral in 2024.
To see whether we are actually achieving our ambitions, we will be audited annually for compliance with the CO2 Performance Ladder. The first audit was carried out by Normec (the independent certifying body) this year. We are proud to see that our efforts have been rewarded with CO2 awareness certification at level 3.
