Our location in Geldermalsen has been certified as carbon neutral

SAB-profiel has taken an important step in its sustainability ambitions. In September 2024, our production site in Geldermalsen was declared carbon neutral for scope 1 & 2 by DNV. This marks the fifth climate-neutral European location of Tata Steel Netherlands.

Govert Kockelkoren, general director of SAB-profiel, stated: “Our journey towards carbon neutrality began in 2019 with the construction of our new sandwich panel factory. From the start, we chose to build without gas and covered the roof with 4,500 solar panels. We constantly strive to improve our footprint by investing in energy savings and reducing our raw material consumption. We have mapped out our emissions and continuously set new targets. We are extremely happy that our sandwich panel factory has been declared carbon neutral. I am incredibly proud of our team. They have worked extremely hard to ensure that we produce in a carbon-neutral way.”

The location in Geldermalsen is part of the downstream operations of Tata Steel Netherlands. Previously, downstream locations in Finland, Sweden, Germany, and Maastricht achieved carbon neutrality for scope 1 & 2. This means that emissions directly related to production are climate-neutral.
