CO₂ emissions results for the first half of 2026

As part of the CO₂ Performance Ladder, we publish our CO₂ emissions every six months.

Compared to our reference year 2019, emissions during the first half of 2026 were only 7% of the 2019 level. In absolute terms, this amounts to 219 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over a six-month period. Our target for the full year is 304 tonnes, a figure we are very likely to exceed.

The main reason is the higher natural gas consumption in IJsselstein. Due to the cold winter, gas usage increased by 11% compared to last year. Reducing this consumption therefore remains our biggest challenge.

Fortunately, there have also been positive developments. In Geldermalsen, LPG consumption decreased by 26%, partly thanks to the use of electric forklifts. In addition, with almost all lease cars now being fully electric, CO₂ emissions from business-related diesel use have fallen by 70% compared to 2025.

To further reduce our CO₂ emissions, we will continue to focus on lowering natural gas consumption. While we cannot influence outdoor temperatures, we can ensure that energy is used as efficiently as possible. Our challenge is therefore to further reduce the use of natural gas for heating without compromising the comfort and safety of our colleagues. By using heating consciously and keeping warehouse and company doors closed whenever possible, we can make further progress.
