History

For 50 years, SAB has been active and big in steel panels, profiles and many more products for roof and facade construction.

SAB active for years in roof and facade market

In 1971, a separate partnership was formed from the Bentstaal company in IJsselstein, which intended to focus on the supply of profiled steel panels. Firstly via import from Germany, then rapidly with its own products. SAB-profiel would be the name of the company, from the initials of the founder Sybrandus Adrianus van Bentum.

In 1974, our first own factory was built with our own production line for the 35, 40 and 96 profiles. Our own press brakes followed rapidly and so also the liner trays.

In 1988, the production of sandwich panels was added. This was one of the first lines in Europe.

Thanks to the success of this, SAB expanded at a rapid rate and more factory buildings were constructed. In 1988, the enterprise was purchased by Hoogovens and since October 1999, SAB has been part of Corus, which came into being through the merger with British Steel. Since 2007, SAB has formed part of Tata Steel in Europe.

Through the years, SAB has been significantly expanded with a German subsidiary SAB-profil GmbH in Niederaula, and since 2020, we have a separate new production site for sandwich panels in Geldermalsen.

SAB-profiel today

Presently, market leader SAB-profiel has around 160 employees in the Netherlands and counts the whole of Europe as its sales area. Our range is wide and comprises wall and roof panels, deep deck profiles, shallow deck profiles, liner trays and various kinds of facade profiles. For intermediate processes, clients can also come to the right place: perforation, slitting and embossing are carried out in house.
