SAB-profiel has nearly achieved its CO₂ reduction goals for 2024

SAB-profiel’s CO₂ reduction for 2024 reached an impressive 89%. This means that compared to the reference year 2019, CO₂ emissions have been reduced by as much as 89%. This represents a small step forward compared to 2023, when the reduction stood at 88%, but unfortunately falls short of the company’s goal of a 92% reduction.

2024 was also the year when the factory in Geldermalsen became the first sandwich panel factory in Europe to be certified as CO₂-neutral! We are justifiably proud of this achievement. Additionally, we made a strong start in making our production halls in IJsselstein more sustainable. The first hall has been upgraded with new façades boasting an insulation value that is no less than five times higher than the old façades.

How are the CO₂ figures composed?

Natural Gas (61% of emissions): A slight increase, partly due to a colder winter and a higher conversion factor.

LPG (20% of emissions): A small decrease compared to 2023.

Diesel (13% of emissions): A significant decrease compared to 2023.

Electric Driving: Significantly lower emissions thanks to a better mix of green and gray electricity.

Although the last stretch is proving to be the most challenging, we are optimistic that with the remaining planned measures, the entire company will be CO₂-neutral by 2030 at the latest.
