To ensure that the right products are applied in every situation, our Product Services department is pleased to assist you with calculations for spans, deflections, support widths, and wind, snow, and temperature loads. We provide these services for our sandwich panels, profiles, and liner trays.

For profiles and liner trays, calculations can also easily be carried out independently using the free calculation program SAB-Static (see below).

When determining the correct span for a sandwich panel, several factors are important, such as:

  • The wind pressure and wind suction acting on the specific building element
  • The colour of the outer sheet (colour group I, II or III)
  • The type and number of fasteners that can be applied
  • The static system (single-span, two-span or multi-span application of the panel)

All these aspects are already incorporated into SAB’s span tables, so you will not encounter unexpected surprises afterwards. In particular with concealed fixed panels, SAB panels are often stronger than the screws themselves. Therefore we calculate for you with two screws per support in combination with the SAB load distribution plate.

SAB-Static: Structural Calculations and Spans

SAB-Static is an advanced calculation program that enables accurate structural calculations for façade profile sheets, roof profile sheets and liner trays. The tool allows users to quickly and reliably perform calculations for roof and façade applications. This provides immediate insight into the structural capabilities and safety of the selected system.

What is SAB-Static?

SAB-Static is a calculation program developed by SAB-profiel for technical calculations of roof and façade cladding and liner trays. The calculator uses its own database containing exclusively verified structural values derived from official product type approvals.

Users enter project data such as span, support width, loads and safety factors. Based on this information, SAB-Static performs precise structural calculations for profile sheets and liner trays — including situations that deviate from standard tables.

Why are structural calculations important for profile sheets and liner trays?

Structural calculations for profile sheets and liner trays are essential to ensure the safety, stability and durability of a building. Incorrect calculations may lead to excessive deflection, damage or even structural failure. Reliable calculations for roof and façade systems are therefore indispensable for the structural integrity of any construction project.

By performing accurate calculations in advance, it is ensured that roof and façade systems can withstand loads such as wind, snow and imposed loads.

For the Dutch market, a wind load and increased snow load generator has also been integrated into SAB-Static. Wind loads can be determined based on wind zone (I, II, III), terrain category (coastal open area, built-up area, coastal area), building height and the position of the product in the roof or façade.

The increased snow load can be determined, among other factors, based on the height difference between two roofs and the length of the two roof surfaces.

SAB-Static offers additional possibilities compared to tables in technical manuals, such as calculating unequal spans, non-standard support widths and alternative safety classes.

Furthermore, SAB-Static is available in multiple languages and standards, including:
