Increasingly more companies are choosing a sustainable building, for instance, one with a BREEAM certificate. It is therefore important to show that construction materials are sustainable. SAB-profiel has taken a major step in this direction: starting this month, the BES-6001:2008 certification method substantiates the origin of our products. SAB-profiel achieved the score of ‘very good’. Within a Dutch BREEAM project this gives the maximum number of points in the MAT 5 category ‘responsible sourcing of materials’.
The new Connection Systems’ building lies in a rural environment in the Dutch province of North Holland. It was a challenge to design the three storey high 5,500 m2 building so that it merged into the cultural historical landscape. To achieve this, Tom Valks, the architect, chose to use steel SAB-Pyramid panels in the colours Colorcoat Prisma® Ephyra and Alaska Grey.
Tata Steel supports designers with a new web tool in which BIM 3D models and product data of all 6,100 European Tata Steel construction products are available. SAB profile products can also be found in this free BIM Profiler. The BIM objects are available in all common BIM software formats, including Autodesk Revit, ARCHICAD and Trimble SketchUp. The BIM objects can also be downloaded and edited in various levels of detail
This month, SAB-profiel will start the build of a new factory for sandwich panels in Geldermalsen, a city about 25 kilometres south of the current site. The new factory will consist of two panel lines. This step will further strengthen SAB-profiel’s leading role in the market for construction cladding and sandwich panels. In 2019, the production of PIR sandwich panels will start and the current site in Nieuwegein will be closed.
