Sustainable renovation of our own SAB Production Hall

To achieve our goal of becoming CO2 neutral by 2030, we are also actively implementing measures at our IJsselstein location. Recently, the renovation of our oldest production hall from the 1970s was completed using our own products. This renovation allows us to save energy and CO2 immediately and eventually transition away from gas. We have also significantly improved the acoustics in our hall for our employees.

Showcase

Our building is located in the Over Oudland industrial area in IJsselstein, near the A2 and N210 highways and next to the “World’s Largest Christmas Tree.” Built in the early 1970s, it was in need of an upgrade. With the use of our products, the building has truly become a showcase, featuring sandwich panels, liner trays and design profiles.

Colorcoat® SDP 50

For the exterior facade, we selected the sustainable Colorcoat® SDP 50 in the new golden metallic color “Dubai Desert.” In sunlight, it creates a beautiful sparkle, further accentuated by the line patterns of the SAB-Pyramid variants.

Effective facade insulation

By opting for SAB-Carrier D 110.1000 TL-FR on two facades, mounted on perforated liner trays with glass wool, the building now has excellent insulation. For the street-facing facade, we chose a construction system with liner trays SAB B140/600, 200mm glass wool, and SAB-Pyramid profile cladding on the exterior. As a result, all facades now meet or exceed new-build insulation standards. Compared to the thin layer of glass wool that was glued between the interior and exterior plates, we have made a huge leap forward. The fire resistance of our facades also now exceeds new-build requirements.

Acoustics

All facades feature perforated liner trays on the inside, due to the high noise levels from our production lines. The noise level in the hall has noticeably decreased. The liner trays are in Colorcoat® PE 15 in RAL 9010, creating a much brighter working environment. Along with improved thermal insulation, the comfort for our employees has significantly increased.

Local installation partner

We could only assign the installation work to one trusted partner/customer. Metal Bouwkonsort (MBK) handled the removal of the old facade and the installation of the new facades. For MBK, this was almost a home match from their own location in Lopik.

We are proud of the final result and have also made a video (although in Dutch) about this project, featuring an explanation from our Product Manager for Design Profiles, Frank de Vos. See below.
